John Maclean, was the guitarist for the indie electro-punk band Six Fingered Satellite, based in Providence. The band was struck by several tragedies and Maclean eventually moved into production duties, utilizing his home studio. Eventually James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) joined the band as sound engineer (where he became known for a punishing tour PA setup, which he nicknamed "Death From Above.”) The band broke up and Murphy moved to New York City and founded the influential dance-punk label DFA Records and John moved to New Hampshire (where he still resides) to teach English. In the early 00’s Murphy urged John to return to music and he began experimenting with modern electronic mixing equipment. DFA included several Maclean compositions on compilation records and his first album on the label, Less than Human, was released in July 2005 to critical acclaim. He currently tours the world DJing and performing with his band, The Juan MacLean.

Skytree (aka Evan Snyder) grew up the son of two nomadic parents in the National Park system. The natural world would serve as a massive influence on his music as well as his father’s record collection of folk and rock oddities such as Fairport Convention, Frank Zappa, and Robin Williams of the Incredible String Band. After stumbling across his big brother’s copy of the Orb’s Adventures Beyond the Ultra World Evan began asking for drum machines for Christmas. Eventually at 16 arming himself with a Boss DR-5, GE tape recording old Yamaha keyboard, an 8-track, and a cheap guitar we began assembling his first tracks. Skytree has released his organic IDM on Earstroke Records, Herb Records, and Wood McBrides’ Comminque Records. He currently lives in a in a retro-fitted, decommissioned public school tower (formerly doubling as the town’s bomb shelter) that overlooks a rural Wisconsin river valley.
